Qatar Energy Company is set to make an announcement Monday that will have a “significant” impact on the industry, an insider source told Reuters.

“The announcement will have a significant impact and is important for the industry,” the source said.

Qatar Energy Company, already one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas sources, signed a series of supply agreements with European and Asian partners for gas that will be produced during the Northern Field expansion.

The plans call for the construction of six liquefied natural gas lines that would increase Qatar’s liquids capacity to 126 million tonnes per year by 2027 from 77 million, but further expansion is possible.

Reuters CEO Saad Al-Kabi said in December that the company is digging a well to assess more opportunities, and that if increasing productivity is technically viable, further expansions will be implemented.

Qatar Energy Company’s invitation to journalists on Thursday only indicated that a “very important announcement” would be made during an event in Doha.

The North Qatari field is part of the largest gas field in the world, which Qatar shares with Iran. Iran calls its share the Southern Knight.\
